Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson Earns Title of Best Elected Official
Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson has been recognized as the Best Elected Official by the Mississippi Business Journal (MBJ) during their annual Best of the Best contest. This honor reflects Gibson’s commitment to his role as mayor and his dedication to the community of Natchez, Mississippi.
In a heartfelt social media post on Saturday morning, Gibson expressed gratitude to the readers of MBJ, stating, “When I learned I had been selected, it really came as a surprise. I thought I was being pranked, actually.” The MBJ’s contest involves a multi-phase nomination process where the public can nominate candidates, with the top nominees proceeding to a final round to determine the winners.
Commitment to Community
Currently serving his second term as mayor, Gibson emphasized his love for Natchez and the importance of his responsibilities. “I love Natchez, and I love what I do,” he remarked. “It is not always easy, but I do my best to give it my all every day.” This accolade serves as affirmation that his efforts have made a significant impact.
“It’s a good feeling to know the work is not in vain. And that clearly we are making a difference. Service to others is what it is all about,” Gibson added. His dedication has not gone unnoticed; he has previously received multiple accolades during his time in office. Notably, he has been twice voted Best of the Miss-Lou in The Natchez Democrat’s annual Best of the Best awards and has earned the Mississippi Governor’s Top Award.
Recognizing Efforts
Reflecting on this latest honor, Gibson shared, “I am pretty proud and this has made the journey even more worthwhile knowing people appreciate it.” His recognition not only highlights his leadership but also underscores the importance of community engagement in local governance.
As the mayor continues his service, Gibson remains focused on making Natchez a better place for its residents. His recognition as Best Elected Official serves as a reminder of the vital role that dedicated leaders play in their communities.
