Colorado High School Football Week 7: Dominant Wins and Close Calls

High school football teams across Colorado showcased their skills in Week 7, with several top-ranked squads delivering impressive performances. The latest results underscore the competitive nature of the state’s football landscape, particularly within the Class 5A and Class 4A divisions.
Class 5A Highlights
In a dominant display, the top-ranked Cherry Creek Bruins (7-0) triumphed over Arapahoe with a resounding score of 56-0. The Bruins achieved an explosive 42-point first half, initiated by a long touchdown run from Jayden Fox, alongside three touchdown passes from quarterback Brady Vodicka. This shutout marks their third of the season and fifth consecutive win dating back to last season. Cherry Creek will face Eaglecrest next, scheduled for 7 p.m. on October 16.
Maintaining their perfect record, Ralston Valley (7-0) secured a 47-7 victory against Denver South. Senior quarterback Zeke Andrews showcased his prowess with touchdown passes to three different receivers and a rushing touchdown, completing 15 of 16 passes for a total of 1,744 yards this season. Ralston Valley will meet Columbine at 7 p.m. on October 16.
The Mountain Vista (6-0) team will take on ThunderRidge on Friday, while Arvada West (7-0) clinched a narrow victory against Columbine, finishing 20-17. Senior quarterback Logan Duhachek played a pivotal role, connecting with Keegen Balistreri for an 83-yard pass that set up the game-winning touchdown. Arvada West will compete against Denver East on October 17.
Other teams, such as Legend and Valor Christian, are set to play on Friday against Chaparral and Castle View, respectively.
Class 4A Overview
In the Class 4A division, Dakota Ridge (6-0) is scheduled to face Heritage on Friday, while Montrose (6-0) will compete against Doherty on Saturday at 1 p.m.. Both teams are vying to maintain their undefeated records.
The game between Pueblo West (5-2) and Mesa Ridge ended in a close 22-15 loss for Pueblo West, halting their three-game winning streak. Mesa Ridge’s senior Leland Frescaz contributed significantly with both a rushing and passing touchdown.
In another exciting matchup, Erie (5-2) triumphed over Vista PEAK Prep with a score of 61-34. Junior quarterback Jack Arnold had an outstanding performance, throwing five touchdown passes and adding a rushing touchdown. The Tigers’ offense was relentless, scoring 45 points in the first half alone.
As the season progresses, football fans in Colorado can anticipate more thrilling matchups and performances from these talented high school teams. The upcoming weeks will be crucial as teams navigate their schedules and aim for playoff positions.
