Camden County Wildcats Appoint Jon Lindsey as Head Football Coach
The Camden County Wildcats have appointed veteran coach Jon Lindsey as their new head football coach, just two days after parting ways with former coach Travis Roland. This decision comes following a season where Roland led the team to a record of 13-8 but ultimately fell short of reaching the state playoffs.
Lindsey, who has a rich history with Camden County football, previously served as the defensive coordinator under the renowned coach Jeff Herron. During his tenure, he contributed to the Wildcats’ success in both the 2008 and 2009 state championship seasons. He returned to the program in 2023 as the defensive coordinator, helping guide the team to the state semifinals.
In a statement regarding the new hire, Camden County Athletic Director Chuck Green emphasized the importance of having a coach who understands the community’s values and expectations. “Having a head coach who knows Camden, its people, its values, and its expectations is vital during this transition,” Green stated. “Coach Lindsey’s passion for this community and his understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest classification of football in Georgia make him the right person to lead our Wildcats forward.”
Throughout his coaching career, Lindsey has held head coaching positions at several schools, including Irwin County, Cook, East Paulding, and Appling County. His overall coaching record stands at 44-31-1, according to data from the Georgia High School Football Historians Association.
As Camden County transitions into a new chapter with Lindsey at the helm, the community looks forward to his leadership and the potential revival of the Wildcats’ football program. With his extensive experience and deep-rooted connection to the area, Lindsey is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
