Bay Area High School Football Week 5: Dominant Wins and Upsets
The high school football scene in the Bay Area showcased a weekend filled with impressive performances and unexpected outcomes during Week 5 of the 2025 season. The results from various games on Friday, September 26, and Saturday, September 27, demonstrated both dominance and resilience among the region’s top teams.
On Saturday, notable victories included Balboa defeating Castlemont with a score of 50-14 and Berkeley overpowering Moreau Catholic 48-20. Kennedy-Fremont narrowly edged St. Mary’s-Berkeley 26-20, while Serra made a statement with a 41-6 triumph over Valley Christian. The matchup between Skyline and Irvington was not reported.
Friday’s games featured an array of dominant performances. Acalanes secured a commanding 56-0 win against Mt. Diablo, while Alameda took down Newark Memorial 25-6. Amador Valley triumphed over Foothill 49-25, and Pittsburg continued its strong season with a 41-20 victory against Marin Catholic.
Among the top teams ranked by the Bay Area News Group, the results were equally compelling. De La Salle, ranked first, improved its record to 5-0 with a convincing 36-7 win over St. Mary’s-Stockton. Archbishop Riordan, holding the second position, also maintained an undefeated streak, defeating St. Francis 47-28. Pittsburg solidified its place in the rankings with a strong performance against Marin Catholic.
Other notable results from the rankings included Acalanes remaining undefeated after its win over Mt. Diablo, while California improved to 5-0 after beating McClymonds 28-20. The competition was fierce, with Valley Christian struggling against Serra and suffering a significant defeat.
As the season progresses, teams like Menlo School, which defeated Northgate 50-28, and Santa Teresa, who overwhelmed Oak Grove 51-0, are looking to build momentum heading into the later weeks.
The rankings also saw some shifts as teams such as Liberty and Monte Vista made their mark with impressive performances. Liberty defeated Clayton Valley Charter 31-13, while Monte Vista showcased its offensive prowess with a 59-36 win over College Park.
As the Bay Area high school football season heats up, the competition remains intense and unpredictable. The outcomes this weekend have set the stage for an exciting continuation of the season, with teams eager to assert their dominance in the weeks to come.
