Assassin’s Creed Confirms Development of Mobile Game ‘Jade’
Ubisoft has officially confirmed that the upcoming mobile game, Assassin’s Creed Jade, is still in development, a welcome update for fans who feared the project might have been shelved. As reported by COMICBOOK, a project administrator responded affirmatively in the official Discord channel for the game, stating “yes” to a fan inquiry about its status, accompanied by a smiling emoji.
Although there have been no official announcements detailing gameplay or a release date, this confirmation alleviates concerns regarding the game’s future. Originally anticipated for release three years ago, the silence from Ubisoft had led many to speculate that Assassin’s Creed Jade had been quietly canceled. The game will explore an ancient Chinese setting during the Qin Dynasty, marking the first time this historical period is featured in a mainline installment of the series.
What to Expect from Assassin’s Creed Jade
While Assassin’s Creed Jade is designed for iOS and Android platforms, it is expected to incorporate elements familiar to the franchise, despite potential differences in gameplay style. Fans of the series may recall the earlier release of Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, a side-scrolling game that diverged significantly from the traditional Assassin’s Creed experience.
The upcoming title promises to offer an expansive open-world environment with both single-player and multiplayer modes, drawing inspiration from classic Wuxia stories. Although the live-service element may not appeal to all players, it presents an opportunity for Ubisoft to engage fans between major game releases.
Anticipating the Release Timeline
Despite this positive news, those eager to play Assassin’s Creed Jade may face a wait, as several major projects within the franchise are expected to launch first. Initially slated for an earlier release, Assassin’s Creed Jade appears to have been delayed in favor of Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, which is rumored to take place during the Holy Roman Empire era in Germany, focusing on witch trials.
Given the breadth of projects in development, including a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and a collaboration with Netflix, it remains unclear when players will be able to experience Assassin’s Creed Jade. The mobile nature of the game may offer a quicker turnaround compared to traditional console releases, providing some hope for fans awaiting its arrival.
As details continue to emerge, Ubisoft’s commitment to the Assassin’s Creed franchise remains strong, with 2025 expected to be a pivotal year for both established titles and new experiences.
