Alabama High School Football Stars Shine in Semifinals
High school football players across Alabama showcased their talents in the state semifinals on November 28, 2025. Notable performances highlighted the competitive spirit and skill level of these student-athletes, with several players delivering standout contributions that helped their teams advance.
Quarterback Landon Duckworth led the charge for Jackson, celebrating a decisive 44-23 victory against St. Michael. In this playoff matchup, Duckworth demonstrated exceptional versatility, rushing for 215 yards and two touchdowns while completing five of nine passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.
In another semifinal, a thrilling contest unfolded as a player rushed 31 times for 311 yards and scored six touchdowns, including a game-winning 23-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The intensity of the game saw his team secure a 44-36 win over Pisgah, reinforcing the significance of every player’s contribution.
The excitement continued with a standout performance from a quarterback who completed 16 of 29 passes for 302 yards, throwing two touchdowns and adding two rushing touchdowns in a 38-21 victory over Benjamin Russell. Another athlete rushed for 237 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries, sealing a win with a dramatic 6-yard run just 4.3 seconds before the final whistle.
Moody also made headlines, advancing to their second consecutive Class 5A title game following a dominant victory over Scottsboro. This success underscores the growing talent and competitive nature of high school football in Alabama.
The semifinals featured numerous remarkable individual efforts, showcasing the depth of talent across the state. Players displayed their capabilities not only through rushing and passing but also through crucial defensive plays. One player caught a 60-yard touchdown pass and returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown, further exemplifying the dynamic nature of high school football.
