Trump Promotes Controversial AI Video on ‘Medbeds’ Technology

Former President Donald Trump sparked controversy over the weekend by sharing an AI-generated video on his Truth Social account, promoting a speculative technology known as “medbeds.” This video, which has since been deleted, depicted a fictionalized segment from Fox News featuring Trump announcing that every American would soon receive a medbed card, granting access to hospitals equipped with this purportedly miraculous healing technology.
The video, published on March 24, 2023, included claims that these facilities would restore every citizen to full health. Trump’s post resonated particularly with adherents of the QAnon conspiracy theory, who believe that such technology exists but has been suppressed by elites. “These facilities are safe, modern, and designed to restore every citizen to full health,” the AI-generated Trump stated, echoing long-standing conspiracy theories.
Background on Medbed Claims
The notion of medbeds is not new; it has circulated for years within alternative medicine and New Age communities. Proponents assert that these beds can cure all ailments, often suggesting that the technology has extraterrestrial origins. Critics argue that claims surrounding medbeds lack scientific credibility and are primarily propagated by individuals or businesses seeking to exploit vulnerable populations.
Some companies have attempted to capitalize on the medbed phenomenon, marketing devices that resemble standard motel rooms or expensive home generators. One such company, Tesla BioHealing, previously faced scrutiny from the Food and Drug Administration for misleading marketing practices. In March 2023, the FDA issued a warning letter to Tesla BioHealing for falsely advertising its products as medical treatments. The company now offers a “quantum healing” generator priced at approximately $11,000.
In addition to promotional efforts, some individuals sell medbed cards, claiming they will provide future access to these devices once they become available. Such sales have raised ethical concerns, as they prey on the hopes and fears of consumers seeking health solutions.
Trump and Conspiracy Theories
Trump’s engagement with conspiracy theories is not a recent development. His social media activity frequently reflects support for various controversial narratives. In recent days, he has advocated for policy changes aligned with the anti-vaccination movement and shared content endorsing the so-called “great replacement theory.” These posts remain active, showcasing Trump’s willingness to align with fringe beliefs.
His endorsement of the medbed concept, while puzzling to some, follows a pattern of embracing conspiratorial trends. Trump previously popularized the false narrative that former President Barack Obama was born in Kenya. Such statements often lead to discussions about the impact of misinformation on public perception and trust in political figures.
Despite the controversial nature of the medbed video, it remains unclear why Trump chose to share it, especially given the implausibility of fulfilling the promises made within it. As the discourse surrounding health technology continues to evolve, the implications of such claims—especially from influential figures—warrant careful scrutiny.
The incident highlights the ongoing intersection of politics, technology, and public belief, illuminating the potential consequences of misinformation in today’s digital landscape.
