Suzanne R. Rubincam, a cherished resident of Palos Verdes Estates, California, died on September 28, 2025, at the age of 84 in Redondo Beach, California. She is remembered for her vibrant spirit and dedication to music education, which impacted the lives of many children.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Suzanne was raised in Evanston, Illinois, where she attended Northwestern University. During her time at university, she met her future husband, Paul Pierre Rubincam, Jr., who charmed her at her Debutante Ball. The couple married and relocated to California after Suzanne’s graduation. They spent over 60 years together, ultimately settling in the Lunada Bay neighborhood, where they lived for 55 years.
Known affectionately by various names, including Sue, Susie, and Ms. Music, she dedicated her career to teaching at Rolling Hills Country Day School. Through her innovative plays and music programs, she nurtured a love for the arts in countless children.
Her summers were filled with laughter and good times at the Portuguese Bend Club with friends, while cooler days found her engaged in needlepoint, creating intricate pieces of art for family and friends. Suzanne also enjoyed playing the piano and tending to her beloved roses, which flourished under her care.
Family played a central role in Suzanne’s life. She is survived by her son, Paul Richard (Rich) Rubincam, and his wife, Denise; her daughter, Amy Rubincam Steadman, and her husband, Will; along with three granddaughters, Chloe Rae Rubincam, Summer Elizabeth Steadman, and Mia Christine Steadman. As “Grammy,” she cherished moments spent with her granddaughters, sharing her love and wisdom with them.
Suzanne and Paul were known for their inseparable bond, often seen as the best dancers at social gatherings. Friends and family fondly remember the couple’s deep connection and joyful spirit, believing they are now dancing together once more.
In accordance with Suzanne’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Instead, the family encourages those wishing to honor her memory to consider donating to research aimed at finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
