Two Pennsylvania State Police troopers were shot on Thursday morning in an incident that has prompted a significant response from law enforcement and state officials. Governor Josh Shapiro confirmed the situation during an event outside Philadelphia, stating, “About an hour ago in Susquehanna County, two state troopers were shot. Lori and I are praying for those troopers.”

The shooting took place along Route 171 near the village of Thomson, approximately 40 miles (63 kilometers) north of Scranton. As the incident unfolded, Governor Shapiro communicated with Col. Christopher Paris, the head of the Pennsylvania State Police, who was at the scene. Shapiro indicated he plans to visit the location following the event he was attending.

A state police spokesperson, Trooper Logan T. Brouse, confirmed the details of the shooting but did not provide further specifics about the circumstances. As the situation remains ongoing, local authorities are managing the scene, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.

In response to the shooting, Sen. Dave McCormick expressed his concern through a social media post, stating, “Dina and I are praying for our brave state troopers in Susquehanna County and monitoring the situation closely as more details emerge.” His message highlights the community’s support for the law enforcement officers involved.

Additionally, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan took to the social media platform X, expressing relief that the troopers involved in the incident are expected to be in stable condition. “I’m relieved to hear the troopers involved in today’s incident in Thompson Township are expected to be in stable condition,” Bresnahan wrote.

The shooting has garnered significant attention, prompting a wave of support from public officials and the community. As investigations continue, the focus remains on the recovery of the injured troopers and the circumstances surrounding this active situation. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
