SPX FLOW Expands Global Mental Health Support with 50+ Ambassadors
SPX FLOW, Inc. has intensified its commitment to employee well-being by expanding its Mental Health Ambassador (MHA) Program, which now includes over 50 trained ambassadors globally. Launched in 2023, this initiative aims to support mental health across all regions, particularly as seasonal depression and end-of-year pressures affect many individuals worldwide.
The MHA Program enables voluntary team members to become ambassadors after receiving specialized training. These ambassadors learn to recognize signs of emotional distress and engage in sensitive conversations while providing effective responses that include self-care and access to well-being resources. According to Nehal Shahin, MHA Lead at SPX FLOW, the program is designed to empower employees and reduce stigma around mental health. “We set out to create a structured, proactive program that empowers employees, reduces stigma and strengthens our commitment to caring for the whole person, not just the work they do,” Shahin explained.
Since the program’s inception, more than 200 team members have participated in live sessions, benefiting from the support offered by the ambassadors. Rather than directing employees to generic resources, ambassadors provide personalized guidance tailored to individual needs. “True well-being goes beyond the workplace,” stated Peter Ryan, Chief People Officer and General Counsel at SPX FLOW. “We’re committed to supporting each individual’s ability to thrive both professionally and personally, and our Mental Health Ambassadors play a vital role in making that care accessible.”
Connecting Employees to Essential Resources
The MHA Program also extends its influence beyond the workplace through monthly webinars and mobile app enhancements. These initiatives facilitate connections between employees and their families, promoting healthy lifestyle habits and encouraging open conversations about mental health.
To further oversee this growing initiative, SPX FLOW has established a Global Mental Health Committee, which will help guide the program’s direction and ensure its effectiveness across various locations. As the need for mental health support increases, SPX FLOW’s proactive approach underscores the importance of fostering an inclusive and supportive corporate culture.
