Russian Missile Strike Damages American Factory in Western Ukraine
A Russian drone and missile strike on August 21, 2025, targeted multiple locations in western Ukraine, including an American-owned electronics factory. The attack occurred in Mukachevo, located in the Zakarpattia Oblast, where the factory operated by Flex Ltd. has been a significant employer since its opening in 2012.
The facility in Mukachevo employs over 2,600 people and accounts for approximately 1 percent of Flex’s global revenue, according to reports from the Kyiv Independent. In a statement released following the incident, Flex confirmed that their site was damaged during the missile attack.
Flex Ltd. stated, “On the morning of August 21, 2025, our facility in Mukachevo, Ukraine, was damaged during a missile strike. Our emergency protocols were executed to ensure the full evacuation of the site.” The company expressed its commitment to supporting employees affected by the attack, noting that a few individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
In response to the incident, Flex is actively collaborating with relevant U.S. Government officials and agencies to address the situation. The company emphasized its dedication to the well-being of its employees and their families during this challenging time.
The attack highlights the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which has seen increased hostilities in recent months. As tensions continue to escalate, the impact on local businesses and international companies operating in the region remains a significant concern.
The Mukachevo factory’s contribution to the local economy is substantial, providing thousands of jobs and supporting the community. As the situation develops, further updates from both Ukrainian authorities and Flex Ltd. are anticipated.
