Volunteers Invited for 2026 Homeless Count in Longview
The North East Texas Homeless Consortium, in collaboration with the City of Longview, is seeking adult volunteers for the upcoming 2026 Point-in-Time Count (PIT Count) scheduled for January 22, 2026. This annual census aims to assess the local homeless population and is essential for securing federal and state funding to enhance housing and social services in the region.
City officials emphasized the importance of following specific guidelines and standards established by the Texas Homeless Network. These measures ensure a respectful and accurate assessment of individuals experiencing homelessness in Longview.
Volunteers are required to participate in a training session lasting between 30 to 45 minutes, with both online and in-person options available. Training sessions are set for the following dates and times:

Community Engagement on Resource Day
The PIT Count coincides with Longview’s Eighth Annual Homeless Resource Day, which will be held at the Longview Exhibit Building. This event not only captures vital data for the count but also provides immediate assistance to community members in need. During the resource day, local health services, food, and essential resources will be offered to those experiencing homelessness.
This dual initiative demonstrates a comprehensive approach to addressing homelessness in Longview, combining data collection with actionable support for vulnerable populations. Volunteers interested in making a difference are encouraged to participate in this important community effort.
