Frankfort recalled, “We had four interviews and I think Miles hired me for two reasons. One, because I was a hard worker who was curious and willing to do whatever it took to learn the business. And two, I was the only candidate — a fact I only learned about years later.”

As he took on the role of vice president of marketing and special projects, Frankfort demonstrated his willingness to tackle challenges head-on. He implemented an air conditioning system in the factory, launched Coach’s first mail-order business, and helped open the company’s first store in 1981. His efforts contributed significantly to the company’s sale to Sara Lee Corporation in 1985, after which he became CEO. Under his leadership, Coach’s revenue skyrocketed from $6 million to $5 billion over the next 29 years.

Frankfort emphasizes the importance of continuous learning, stating, “Be a constant, curious learner no matter how young or old you are. Never assume you have all the answers. Ask a lot of questions and question answers you get. Keep digging!”
