Marc Douglas Berardo Welcomes Craig Bickhardt to ‘Harbor Songs’

Renowned singer-songwriter Marc Douglas Berardo will host celebrated songwriter Craig Bickhardt at the United Theatre on October 29, 2023, as part of his ongoing “Harbor Songs” concert series. This event marks another chapter in Berardo’s commitment to connecting local audiences with talented musicians.
Celebrated Songwriters Unite
Craig Bickhardt has an impressive portfolio, having co-written songs for notable artists such as Art Garfunkel, Kathy Mattea, and Martina McBride. His work includes hits like “I Know Where I’m Going,” performed by the Judds, and “It Must Be Love,” a number one success for Ty Herndon. This concert will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to hear Bickhardt’s stories and insights into his songwriting process.
Berardo, often referred to as MDB, has been a fixture in the music scene for over 30 years. He initiated the “Harbor Songs” series to showcase his favorite songwriters, beginning with the late Grammy-winning artist David Olney. Olney tragically passed away during a performance in 2021, highlighting the series’ intimate nature and emotional connection to its audience.
A Legacy of Music and Community
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Berardo adapted by hosting online concerts before resuming live performances. The series has featured a variety of talented artists, including Walt Wilkins and Danielle Miraglia, as well as local favorites like Sandman Allen and Kyle Rathburn. Each event aims to create an intimate atmosphere where songwriters can share their creative journeys.
After the closure of The Malted Barley in February 2023, Berardo found a new home for “Harbor Songs” at the United Theatre. The first show at this venue featured Grammy-nominated artist Ari Hest and special guest Kala Farnham. Since then, the series has continued to attract notable touring artists and local talent.
Berardo emphasizes the unique format of “Harbor Songs,” stating it allows songwriters to present their music in a stripped-down, personal manner. “This concert is a chance for the audience to feel and share in the beauty and mystery of song creation,” he noted.
Tickets for the October 29 concert are available for $20 in advance and $25 at the door, and can be purchased through the United Theatre’s website, unitedtheatre.org. Further information about upcoming shows in the “Harbor Songs” series can be found at marcdouglas.com.
