Knaus Berry Farm Transitions to New Ownership and Location
Knaus Berry Farm, a cherished institution in Homestead, Florida, has officially transitioned to new ownership and relocated to a new site. The farm, which has been in operation since 1956, was originally established by the Knaus family as a roadside stand. Brothers Russell and Ray Knaus began selling strawberries, while Ray’s wife, Barbara, provided freshly baked goods. Over the decades, it has become famous for its cinnamon rolls, milkshakes, and other local produce, attracting a loyal customer base.
The farm’s new home is now situated further north at the intersection of Krome Avenue and Southwest 168th Street, on property owned by Sam S. Accursio & Sons Farms. This family-run operation has a long-standing history in South Florida, having been established nearly 70 years ago. Previously, Knaus Berry Farm was located on Southwest 248th Street near Southwest 157th Avenue, a site it occupied since 1959.
The new ownership group includes Joel White, who previously served as vice president of marketing for Genuine Hospitality, alongside local investor Sunil Bhatt, the current CEO and co-owner of Genuine Holdings. They are joined by other local investors who share a vision for the farm’s future.
The transition marks a significant shift for the iconic establishment, which has maintained a strong connection to the community and its agricultural roots. As the new owners plan to preserve the farm’s legacy, they are also exploring opportunities to enhance its offerings and improve the customer experience.
While the Knaus family has stepped back from daily operations, their impact on the local community and the farm’s history remains deeply felt. Customers can expect to see familiar favorites alongside new additions as the farm settles into its new location.
As Knaus Berry Farm embarks on this new chapter, it aims to continue its tradition of quality produce and baked goods, ensuring that it remains a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike.
