Hillsborough County Launches Festive Food Pantry Events with Feeding Tampa Bay
As the festive season approaches, many residents in Hillsborough County face the challenge of food insecurity. To address this issue, the county’s **Healthy Living Program** has partnered with **Feeding Tampa Bay** to host a series of food pantry events aimed at providing essential resources during the holidays. These events will help ensure that families can celebrate without the worry of insufficient food supplies.
The initiative goes beyond merely distributing food. The program aims to foster health and wellness by offering monthly food packages filled with fresh produce, meats, and pantry staples. These distributions will see an increase during November and December, allowing anyone aged 18 or older, regardless of income, to access these vital services.
Upcoming Food Distribution Events
Scheduled for next week, the food distribution events will take place at various locations. The first event is set for Thursday at the **Lee Davis Healthy Living Center**. The following day, distributions will occur simultaneously at both the **Plant City** and **SouthShore Healthy Living Centers**. These events are open to the public and represent a significant aspect of the support provided by the Healthy Living Program.
In addition to food distribution, the program is enhancing its offerings this holiday season. Residents can benefit from free access to exercise rooms and group fitness classes, promoting overall well-being. Nutrition consultations and educational classes are also available at four Healthy Living Centers throughout the county, ensuring comprehensive support for local residents.
While the Healthy Living Program leads these initiatives, it collaborates with other organizations to expand its reach. Resources such as **ECHO**, the **United Food Bank of Plant City**, and the **St. Anne Catholic Church Food Pantry** are also involved, providing essential food and clothing assistance to those in need across Hillsborough County.
Residents looking for more information about the services offered can visit the Healthy Living Program’s website or contact them directly. The collective efforts of these organizations aim to alleviate food insecurity, especially during a season that can be particularly challenging for many families.
