Community Mourns Loss of Coach Christopher S. Pardue

Christopher S. Pardue, a dedicated coach and beloved family member, passed away on August 5, 2025, at the age of 67. Surrounded by his family, Pardue’s death marks a significant loss for the community of Scottsville, Kentucky, where he made a lasting impact through his coaching and personal relationships.
Born on March 9, 1958, to E. Carlston “Mutt” and Suzanne Taggart Pardue, Christopher grew up in Scottsville and was a distinguished graduate of Allen County-Scottsville High School, class of 1977. His contributions to the school were recognized when he was inducted into both the school’s and Boyle County High School’s Hall of Fame, highlighting his dedication to nurturing young athletes.
For 42 years, Pardue dedicated his life to coaching, serving at Allen County, Mercer County, Campbellsville University, and spending 21 years at Boyle County High School. His coaching philosophy was grounded in the belief that “it’s not about me, it’s about the kids.” He instilled values of teamwork, perseverance, and integrity, profoundly influencing the lives of many young athletes.
A Legacy of Faith and Family
Beyond his coaching career, Pardue was a devout member of Carpenter’s Christian Church, where his faith played a significant role in his life. He found immense joy and purpose in his family, especially in his grandchildren, Siddalea Rose Gray, Emerson Dean Gray, and Walker Aaron Gray. His relationships with them were characterized by boundless love and guidance.
Chris is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sherry Pardue, his daughter Kelly Gray, and his grandchildren, along with his siblings, Susan Pardue Carter, Ernest (Beth) Pardue, and Laura Spencer (Mike) Zachek. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with countless friends who cherished his companionship.
Pardue’s legacy extends beyond his immediate family; he cultivated a spirit of community and support that will continue to inspire those who knew him. His commitment to the welfare of his players and his community at large has left an indelible mark that will be remembered for years to come.
Memorial Services and Donations
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on August 11, 2025, at Carpenter’s Christian Church in Harrodsburg, with visitation scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. that same day. Honorary pallbearers will consist of colleagues from his extensive coaching career. Additionally, a Celebration of Life will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on August 16, 2025, in Scottsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Boyle County Quarterback Club or the American Cancer Society.
