Buckeye Welcomes Jared W. Askelson as New Deputy City Manager
The City of Buckeye has appointed Jared W. Askelson as its new Deputy City Manager following a national search. Askelson, who previously served as the Finance Director for the City of Goodyear, is set to begin his new role on November 10, 2023, bringing over 25 years of experience in municipal government in Arizona.
Askelson’s extensive background encompasses various responsibilities across state and local government positions. His expertise includes strategic planning, investment management, financial reporting, and budget planning. Additionally, he has experience in updating city codes and managing utility billing systems.
Local Expertise and Vision for Growth
In an official statement from the City of Buckeye, Askelson expressed his excitement about joining the city’s executive team. He stated, “I’m excited to be selected to be part of the Executive Team in Buckeye. This is a great opportunity to continue building on the city’s success with a team of incredible professionals dedicated to making Buckeye a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Askelson’s career in Arizona municipal government has included significant roles in several cities, including Goodyear, Surprise, Mesa, and Casa Grande. His local knowledge and experience are expected to be instrumental as Buckeye navigates its next phases of development and economic growth.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Arizona State University West, Askelson is well-equipped to tackle the financial challenges and opportunities that come with his new position. His appointment reflects Buckeye’s commitment to strong leadership as it continues to expand and enhance services for its residents.
