An Evening of Enchantment
“Ghost Light Cabaret” promises to be an unforgettable evening, showcasing a blend of classic and contemporary musical theatre. Ross, along with pianist and festival artistic director Scott Lykins, will guide the audience through a selection of hauntingly beautiful songs, perfectly timed for the Halloween season. The concert will feature well-loved pieces from shows like Phantom of the Opera, Hadestown, and Wicked, creating a magical atmosphere under the soft glow of the ghost light.
Andrea Ross has garnered international acclaim as a vocalist and recording artist. The Boston Globe described her as “a phenom, whose poise and pipes are astounding,” while Variety Magazine praised her for having a “lovely, clear soprano.” Her career took flight under the mentorship of Broadway composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, who produced her UK chart-topping album Moon River.
Celebrated Career and Collaborations
Ross’s impressive credentials include lead roles in national tours of Whistle Down the Wind and The Sound of Music. She has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Actress from the Boston Theater Critics Association. As a highly sought-after soloist, she has performed with renowned orchestras worldwide, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
This cabaret event will also be staged in Minneapolis on October 23, 2023, at Crooners Supper Club and again on October 25, 2023, at the Pillsbury Castle, marking the new Twin Cities home of the Lakes Area Music Festival.
The Lakes Area Music Festival, now in its 18th season, serves as Minnesota’s summer destination for high-quality opera, orchestra, and chamber music. Founded in 2009, the festival brings together more than 230 artists from top orchestras and opera companies to offer around 100 concerts and community outreach activities each year.
