Summit County Historical Society Hosts Halloween Paranormal Event

The Summit County Historical Society is set to host a unique Halloween event, the Perkins Paranormal Trick-Or-Treat, on October 31. This family-friendly gathering will take place from 17:30 to 19:00 at the historic Perkins Stone Mansion in Akron, Ohio. Attendees can expect a festive atmosphere complete with costumed staff and volunteers, spooky exhibits, and engaging stories throughout the mansion.
The event features trick-or-treat stations located in each room of the mansion, allowing children to collect treats as they explore. Participation costs $5 per family, making it an accessible option for families looking to celebrate the Halloween season in a new way. While costumes are encouraged, guests are advised that masks are not permitted for safety reasons.
Historic Venue and Its Significance
Constructed in 1837, the Perkins Stone Mansion was built by Colonel Simon Perkins, the son of Akron’s founder, General Simon Perkins. The building is now managed by the Summit County Historical Society as a house museum. Exhibits within the mansion highlight the Perkins family’s life across three generations, illustrating the rich history of Akron and Summit County during the late 1800s. According to the Summit County Historical Society, these exhibits provide visitors with a glimpse into the past while celebrating local heritage.
Parking for the event is available at the paved lot located at 465 S. Portage Path, as well as at the corners of S. Portage Path and Copley Roads. Additional parking can be found at the John Brown House, located at 514 Diagonal Road, although this venue will not be open during the event.
Tickets for the Perkins Paranormal Trick-Or-Treat can be purchased online or at the entrance on the day of the event. It is important to note that children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
This event promises to be a memorable way for families to engage with history and celebrate Halloween. For those interested in more local news, the Rubber City Update, an email newsletter from cleveland.com, provides timely updates every Wednesday at 5:30 a.m..
