Robyn Brown Reflects on Depression After Kody’s Marital Splits
Robyn Brown has opened up about her struggles with depression while living in Flagstaff, Arizona, during significant upheavals in her family life. In the latest episode of the TLC series *Sister Wives*, which aired on October 12, 2023, she revealed the emotional toll that the separations of her husband, Kody Brown, from his other wives—Meri, Janelle, and Christine—had on her mental health.
Reflecting on her experience, the 47-year-old stated, “The new home for me is like a new beginning.” Kody, 56, echoed her sentiments, emphasizing that selling their former residence was a crucial step towards healing. The couple decided to part with the house where their family faced multiple challenges, including three divorces over the past three years.
Robyn shared, “I was in a deep, deep depression in this house while the splits were happening,” highlighting the emotional weight of the situation. The departures began with Christine, 53, who announced her split from Kody in November 2021 after more than 25 years of marriage. Janelle, 56, followed suit in December 2022, and Meri, 54, confirmed her separation in January 2023.
Kody also reflected on the painful memories associated with their former home. He recounted a series of difficult events, including his struggle with COVID-19 and the emotional fallout from the breakups. “This place has pain in it,” he remarked, indicating the need for a fresh start.
Christine, while acknowledging her own discoveries about the couple’s decision to sell, expressed support for their move. “I think it’s a good idea for him to move. Close that door and start another chapter,” she stated. This sentiment captures the sense of closure that both Kody and Robyn hope to achieve.
The couple shares two biological children, Solomon, 13, and Ariella, 9. Kody is also the stepfather to Robyn’s three older children from her previous marriage: Dayton, 25, Aurora, 23, and Breanna, 21. In April 2024, they listed their five-bedroom, four-bathroom home in Flagstaff for $1.65 million, and it sold quickly, allowing them to transition to a new residence nearby.
In discussing their move, Robyn noted, “We’ll be leaving a lot of pain and hard memories behind.” She expressed optimism about their future in a new space that promises to be conducive to their plans.
The family’s experience in Flagstaff extends beyond personal trials. After their move, Kody, Robyn, Meri, and Janelle sold a property known as Coyote Pass for $1.5 million. This 14-acre site had been a point of contention following Kody’s separations, and Christine was the only ex-wife who did not receive any proceeds from the sale, as she had relinquished her shares when she departed.
Christine, who has since moved to Utah and married David Woolley in October 2023, retained the funds from selling her Arizona home, further illustrating the complex dynamics within the family.
As Kody and Robyn look toward the future, they aim to build a life that is free from the painful memories of their past. With their new home symbolizing a fresh start, they remain committed to navigating the challenges of their unique family structure together.
