Starz Cancels “BMF” After Fourth Season Despite 50 Cent Feud
Starz has officially canceled the popular series “BMF” following the conclusion of its fourth season earlier this year. The announcement has sparked speculation among fans, particularly regarding the ongoing feud between executive producer 50 Cent and Big Meech, the real-life figure on whom the series is based. Despite the rumors, industry sources indicate that the cancellation is not directly tied to this conflict.
According to a report from Deadline, the decision to end “BMF” aligns with a broader strategy shift announced by network CEO Jeffrey Hirsch. Back in March, Hirsch indicated a focus on producing new content rather than maintaining existing shows that require increasingly larger budgets. This strategy reflects a similar approach within the Power universe, which is currently concluding its existing series while exploring new prequel and spinoff opportunities.
The dynamics surrounding the production of “BMF” have been complicated by the tensions between 50 Cent and both Big Meech and his son, Lil Meech. Their relationship soured after Big Meech was seen with Rick Ross, a rival of 50 Cent. This incident reportedly intensified existing tensions, with 50 Cent having made public allegations against Big Meech, which were firmly denied by the former crime boss.
Production insiders revealed that these personal conflicts contributed to a challenging atmosphere on the sets during the filming of the third and fourth seasons. Despite these challenges, 50 Cent continues to juggle a variety of projects, raising questions about his future collaborations with Starz.
While the end of “BMF” may feel disappointing for its dedicated fanbase, the franchise’s story is not entirely over. Starz is still considering future developments within the “BMF” universe. Fans can remain hopeful for potential spinoffs or related projects that may emerge in the coming months.
In summary, the cancellation of “BMF” appears to be a calculated business decision rather than a direct consequence of the personal disputes involving its key figures. As Starz shifts its focus towards new content, the future of the franchise remains in the balance, leaving fans with a mix of nostalgia and anticipation.
