Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux Discusses Future Plans for City
In an exclusive interview on October 1, 2025, Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux outlined his vision for the city’s future, addressing key initiatives and challenges that lie ahead. Speaking from his office, Arceneaux emphasized the need for community engagement and economic development to enhance Shreveport’s standing as a vibrant city in Louisiana.
Community Engagement as a Priority
Mayor Arceneaux highlighted the importance of involving citizens in the decision-making process. He stated, “We need to hear from our residents to better understand their needs and aspirations. Their input is vital for shaping policies that truly benefit our community.”
Reflecting on recent challenges, he acknowledged that many residents feel disconnected from local government. To combat this, Arceneaux is launching a series of town hall meetings aimed at fostering dialogue between citizens and city officials. “This is about building trust,” he added.
Focus on Economic Development
The mayor also pointed to economic development as a cornerstone of his agenda, with plans to attract new businesses and support existing ones. His administration is pursuing a strategy that includes tax incentives for companies willing to invest in the area, which he believes will create jobs and stimulate local growth.
“We want to make Shreveport a place where businesses want to set up shop. By creating a favorable business environment, we can boost our economy and provide more opportunities for our residents,” Arceneaux explained.
He revealed that the city is currently in discussions with several potential investors, which he hopes will lead to announcements in the coming months. “These investments could potentially bring in millions of dollars and hundreds of jobs,” he noted, underscoring the significance of these efforts for the local economy.
In addition to attracting new businesses, the mayor is committed to revitalizing existing infrastructure. This includes upgrading public facilities and improving transportation networks, which are essential for enhancing the quality of life in Shreveport.
Mayor Arceneaux’s plans reflect a comprehensive approach to governance, aimed at fostering a sense of community while driving economic progress. “We have a lot of work to do, but I am optimistic about what lies ahead for Shreveport,” he concluded.
