Seth Rogen and Kate Berlant Join Cast of Netflix Hit Comedy
Netflix has announced that comedy stars Seth Rogen and Kate Berlant will make guest appearances in the upcoming season of the successful series Nobody Wants This, which features Kristen Bell and Adam Brody. The show, which debuted in September, quickly captured audience attention, amassing over 15 million viewers in its opening week and dominating the platform’s viewership rankings. Following this impressive reception, Netflix greenlit a second season set to premiere on October 23, 2023.
The first season introduced viewers to Joanne, portrayed by Bell, an outspoken sex and dating podcaster who develops a romantic connection with Noah Roklov, played by Brody, a recently single rabbi. The show’s engaging narrative and relatable characters contributed to its quick rise in popularity, prompting Netflix to accelerate production for a follow-up season.
In addition to Rogen and Berlant, the new season will also feature returning cast members Leighton Meester, Miles Fowler, Alex Karpovsky, and Arian Moayed. Rogen recently celebrated a successful run at the Emmy Awards, where his Apple TV+ series The Studio won 13 awards. Meanwhile, Berlant’s latest project, Maddie’s Secret, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and she will conclude her summer comedy tour in Los Angeles later this month.
Co-showrunner Jenni Konner expressed enthusiasm about the addition of Rogen and Berlant, stating, “Their energy together was a dream. When you get brilliant people to come in, it makes your writing and the show better.” Series creator Erin Foster echoed this sentiment, noting the fortune of having both a strong main cast and impressive guest stars.
The second season is set to explore the evolving relationship between Joanne and Noah, building on the chemistry established in the first season. Additionally, returning cast members include Justine Lupe as Joanne’s sister Morgan, Timothy Simons as Noah’s brother Sasha, and Jackie Tohn as Sasha’s wife, Esther.
As anticipation builds for the second season of Nobody Wants This, fans can look forward to a comedic exploration of love and relationships, further enriched by the talents of Rogen and Berlant.
