Paramount Pulls “South Park” Episode Following Political Incident

Paramount has withdrawn reruns of the “South Park” episode titled “Got a Nut” from its schedule on Comedy Central. The decision follows the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old right-wing political activist and media personality, on September 20, 2023. Although the episode is no longer airing on television, it remains accessible on the Paramount+ streaming platform, according to a report from Deadline.
The episode, which is the second installment of the show’s 27th season, originally premiered on August 6, 2023. It drew attention for its parody of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids and featured a subplot involving characters Clyde Donovan and Eric Cartman as right-wing podcasters. Kirk himself had expressed a favorable view of the episode in a prior interview with Fox News, referring to it as a “badge of honor.” He even changed his YouTube profile picture to feature Cartman in homage to the show.
Following the recent political developments, sources within the entertainment industry indicate that the removal of the episode is “only temporary” and that it will return to the network once the political climate stabilizes. The creators of “South Park” are known for their satirical takes on current events, and this decision reflects the sensitivity surrounding the recent assassination.
While the future of “Got a Nut” remains uncertain, fans can look forward to the next episode of “South Park,” scheduled to air on September 23, 2023. The series has a long history of addressing controversial topics, making it a significant platform for political commentary in popular culture.
