Michelle Coltrane to Headline Jazz Night for Peace in Brooklyn
Brooklyn Peace Center is set to host its Fourth Annual Jazz Night: Peace on Earth on December 13, 2025. The event will feature a performance by Michelle Coltrane, the daughter of iconic musicians John and Alice Coltrane. This special evening will showcase an impressive ensemble, including noted artists such as Lonnie Plaxico on bass, Jeff “Tain” Watts on drums, Rico Jones on saxophone, and Lafayette Harris on piano.
The Jazz Night will also present dance works choreographed by Miss Candice Michelle Franklin of Cumbe Rise, emphasizing the unifying power of both jazz music and movement. This year’s event is particularly significant as it will mark the inaugural presentation of the Turiya Sings Award. This award, initiated by the Brooklyn Peace Center, honors artists and cultural visionaries who reflect the legacy of Turiyasangitananda Alice Coltrane through their commitment to interreligious and intercultural peacebuilding via the arts.
Celebrating Peace Through the Arts
The Turiya Sings Award recognizes creative endeavors as sacred work, deeply rooted in love, liberation, and the harmonization of humanity. Now in its fourth year, Jazz Night has become a vital fundraising event for the Brooklyn Peace Center, a nonprofit organization focused on peacebuilding and cultural programming. Proceeds from the evening will support year-round initiatives aimed at nurturing creativity and fostering community connections.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM, with the performance commencing at 7:00 PM. It will take place at the Brooklyn Peace Center, located at 23 Marcus Garvey Blvd., Brooklyn, NY. Tickets for the event start at $75, with tables available for those looking to enjoy the evening with friends or family. Interested attendees can visit givebutter.com/jazznight4 for tickets and sponsorship opportunities.
The upcoming Jazz Night promises to be a memorable celebration of music, dance, and the spirit of unity, furthering the mission of the Brooklyn Peace Center to enhance cultural dialogue and promote peace through artistic expression.
