The latest installment in the popular Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 7, features an intricate Easter egg quest in the new Astra Malorum zombies map. This main quest involves a series of complex steps that players must navigate to fully experience the map’s offerings. With the introduction of a roaming boss, players face new challenges and opportunities as they attempt to complete the Easter egg.

To initiate the quest, players must first activate the power and unlock the Pack-a-Punch machine, a key component for upgrading weapons. This begins by repairing the Harmonic Oculus located in the Observatory Dome. Players need to gather two Harmonic Components: one is found in the Luminarium, while the other is located in the Machina Astralis. After collecting these components, players must defend the Oculus from a wave of zombies before they can proceed.

Upon successfully repairing the Harmonic Oculus, the Pack-a-Punch machine becomes available, allowing players to upgrade their weapons, which is essential for the next steps in the Easter egg.

Gathering the LGM-1 and Defeating OSCAR

A crucial element in this quest is acquiring the LGM-1, the new Wonder Weapon specific to the Astra Malorum map. To obtain it, players must defeat the roaming boss named OSCAR three times using various traps scattered throughout the map. Each encounter with OSCAR requires players to collect certain spare parts: a Car Battery, Aberrant Wiring, and a Damaged Drone.

The Car Battery can be obtained by shooting the hood of a vehicle called Ol’ Tessie using a Pack-a-Punched weapon. Aberrant Wiring is located near flickering lamp posts around the map; players must shoot the flickering light to collect it. Finally, the Damaged Drone can be acquired by defeating one of OSCAR’s shield drones. Once these parts are collected, players can use the traps effectively to defeat OSCAR and gain the LGM-1.

The traps include a mechanism in the Observatory Dome where players need to shoot five steaming parts on the wall. Utilizing the telescope next to the Harmonic Oculus allows players to summon a laser beam to defeat OSCAR. Other traps include activating devices in the Luminarium and the Museum Infinitum using special items known as Absolute Zero Fragments.

Solving Puzzles and Confronting Caltheris

Following the defeat of OSCAR, players must solve a series of puzzles. One of the first tasks involves following OSCAR around the map without being detected, listening for audio logs that reveal a sequence of planets associated with specific numbers. As players correctly input these numbers into the Pack-a-Punch machine, they will progress to the next stage.

In the next challenge, players must retrieve the Cryo Chamber Key and interact with several machines across the map to extract a brain using a Rock Saw. After surviving a one-minute challenge while defending the area, they will need to return to the Observatory Dome to align the planets based on gathered information.

As players piece together the reading list puzzle, they will climb into an attic to collect the planet Neptune and place it on the Machina Astralis diorama. This triggers further actions involving the Perfusion Machine, culminating in a two-minute lockdown where players must defend a teleporter from OSCAR and a horde of zombies.

Once players complete these tasks, they will be transported to Mars, where they will need to shoot alien pylons in a specific order to obtain the Ascendant Eye. This item allows them to activate additional pylons before returning to the Observatory Dome for the final boss fight against Caltheris.

Caltheris is a formidable multi-stage boss, demanding players to charge pylons by defeating zombies while avoiding deadly attacks. The battle requires strategic movement and quick thinking as Caltheris transforms through several phases, each presenting new challenges.

By successfully navigating through these complex steps, players will unlock the Easter egg and enjoy the concluding cutscene of the Astra Malorum quest. This elaborate quest showcases the depth of gameplay in Black Ops 7, offering players a rich experience filled with challenges and rewards.
