Josh Charles Shares Incident with Travis Kelce on Set of Swift Video
Josh Charles recently recounted an unexpected moment involving NFL star Travis Kelce while filming a music video for Taylor Swift in 2024. During an appearance on *The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon*, Charles revealed that he called Kelce a “d—” in light of their prior interactions, particularly during a competitive season.
The actor, known for his roles in *The Good Wife* and *Dead Poets Society*, explained his mixed feelings towards Kelce. “I’ve always liked Travis Kelce,” Charles stated. “I just thought he was so cool, but that year that they beat us in the AFC Championship game— they beat the Ravens— he was a real jerk that year.”
During the interview, Charles elaborated on his blunt approach when he met Kelce on the set of Swift’s song “Fortnight feat. Post Malone.” He admitted to confronting Kelce directly about his behavior during that pivotal season. “When I met him, I said, ‘You know I always liked you, and this year you were kind of a D-I-C-K. What was up with that?’”
The topic resurfaced after actor Ethan Hawke mentioned the incident during an interview on *The Rich Eisen Show* in September 2025. Hawke noted the tension between Charles and Kelce while filming, which added an interesting layer to their interactions.
Despite the initial tension, Charles described the encounter as ultimately positive. “He laughed. He was like, ‘You know what? You’re right. I’m going to tell you why,’” Charles recounted. Kelce explained that his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, felt pressure to perform well against the Ravens, necessitating a confident demeanor on the field.
“He had to come in with some swagger to the match, which he apparently did,” Charles noted. Reflecting on the game, the actor acknowledged the impact Kelce had on their team, sharing, “He got one of our veterans to commit a personal foul. You know, he got in our heads, and it worked for them. They won the game.”
In closing, Charles expressed admiration for Kelce, stating, “He was actually great. I mean, we talked about all different kinds of football. He’s such a good dude. I really liked him a lot.” This candid exchange highlights the complex dynamics between sports figures and the entertainment industry, illustrating how competitive spirit can lead to memorable interactions beyond the field.
