Holiday Spirit Shines at Townsend’s Nutcracker Ballet Story Time
Townsend is set to embrace the holiday season with a delightful “Nutcracker Ballet Story Time” at the Townsend Public Library. Scheduled for 6 p.m. on November 25, this enchanting event will feature dancers from the North Central Youth Ballet (NCYB), who will perform captivating excerpts from their forthcoming production of “The Nutcracker.” The library, located at 12 Dudley Road, will provide a festive atmosphere for families and children to enjoy.
The performance will combine live dance with storytelling, as a narrator recounts the beloved tale of “The Nutcracker,” enhancing the experience for all attendees. Young dancers, adorned in beautiful festive costumes, will showcase their skills and artistry, making it a magical evening for the community.
Community Engagement Through Dance
The North Central Youth Ballet is a nonprofit organization that offers professional ballet experiences to young dancers. By uniting talent from various studios, NCYB fosters collaboration and creativity within the community. Co-founders and directors Karen Brown and Megan Simisky bring a wealth of experience and a shared passion for nurturing young talent in the performing arts.
According to Megan Simisky, “When you watch ballet in person, it creates excitement, inspires true joy, and makes you feel like you participated just by seeing.” She emphasizes that the combination of community involvement and the anticipation of the holiday season makes this production a perfect way to kick off the festivities.

The NCYB will present full performances of “The Nutcracker” at 6 p.m. on December 5, noon on December 6, and again at 6 p.m. on December 6, at North Middlesex Regional High School, located at 19 Main St. Tickets for these performances are available for purchase online.
