In an interview with Vogue, Klum explained her inspiration: “I wanted to explore the classic monsters of history, and reimagine one in a modern way.” She chose Medusa for her iconic status, noting, “The legend of her turning humans to stone has fascinated audiences for centuries.” Her interpretation of this mythological figure aims to blend beauty with a hint of danger.

Klum typically plans her costumes well in advance, but this year’s concept came to her around April. Despite the tight timeline, she collaborated closely with her friend and costume designer, Mike Marino. “He immediately said, ‘Hell yeah!’” Klum shared, praising Marino’s creativity and ability to enhance her ideas. His team boasts multiple Oscar nominations and an Emmy award for their work on “The Penguin,” showcasing the high level of expertise involved in bringing her vision to life.

The costume features intricate details, including hand-painted elements and realistic moving snakes. Klum dedicated nine hours to the makeup process, documenting her transformation on Instagram through a series of videos. “I love that all of the snakes move independently—they look so real,” she noted.
