“Grey’s Anatomy Marks Historic 450th Episode with Star-Studded Celebration”

ABC’s long-running medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy, commemorates its significant milestone with the airing of its 450th episode on March 15, 2024. This achievement solidifies its status as the longest-running medical series in the United States. The celebration included cast members reflecting on their experiences and the show’s enduring impact on audiences worldwide.
At the event, star Alexis Floyd expressed her excitement, stating, “I’m completely buzzing. I mean this show is historic every day just because of the people I get to work with, the stories we tell, how long we’ve been telling them.” Floyd’s enthusiasm highlights the camaraderie and passion that has characterized the series throughout its 22-season journey.
Another long-standing cast member, Jason George, who joined the show in its sixth season and also features in the spinoff Station 19, shared his sentiments about the show’s quality. He remarked, “The show’s as good as it’s ever been. The feels are there. The comedy that comes in – the way it gets you laughing and then crying in the middle of a laugh, or it gets you crying then laughing in the middle of a cry – that for me is the reason why I fell in love with the show.”
Reflecting on the show’s longevity, James Pickens Jr., a fixture since the series premiere in 2005, remarked, “I would have never thought, 20-some odd years ago, this show would still be going on. It’s been pretty amazing.” His words emphasize the remarkable journey of a series that has touched the hearts of millions.
Chandra Wilson, another original cast member, teased fans with hints of special moments in the episode. “What I can say is there will be things throughout, Easter eggs throughout, that’ll make the fans really happy. We have to do some callback things, some throwback things in order to commemorate that time,” she explained. Her comments suggest that the episode will include nostalgic references that long-time viewers will appreciate.
Taking the reins as director for this landmark episode, Kevin McKidd described the experience as a “love letter to the fans.” He stated, “For me it’s such fun to be able to film those moments and put them on the screen as a sort of love letter to the fans and their loyalty.” McKidd’s vision for the episode seeks to honor the dedication of viewers who have remained loyal over the years.
The 450th episode of Grey’s Anatomy premiered on ABC at 10/9c and will be available for streaming the following day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. As the series continues to evolve, the show’s legacy remains rooted in the compelling narratives and relationships that have defined it for nearly two decades. The Walt Disney Company, the parent organization of ABC, continues to support this iconic series as it reaches new milestones.
