Father of Burning Man Festival Murder Victim Seeks Justice

The father of a man found dead at the Burning Man Festival has publicly called for justice following his son’s tragic death. Vadim Kruglov, aged 37, was reported missing for four days before his body was discovered on August 30, 2023, in a secluded area of the festival site. Law enforcement officials have classified his death as a homicide, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding it.
Vadim’s body was located after festival attendees alerted authorities upon finding him. Investigators noted a significant amount of blood at the scene, heightening concerns about the nature of his death. The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office used fingerprints to confirm Vadim’s identity, but the cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Prior to his discovery, Vadim’s friends had expressed growing alarm over his disappearance. Social media posts highlighted their concerns, with one friend stating, “Very concerned,” on Instagram after four days without contact. Friends had actively searched for him after he went missing from his campground, leaving behind personal belongings, including his tent.
In his first public statement, Vadim’s father, Igor Kruglov, expressed pride in his son’s character and achievements. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Igor stated, “He felt injustice deeply and fought for fairness always.” He emphasized his desire for accountability, asserting, “I want those responsible to face consequences.” Igor also sought to clarify unfounded rumors regarding Vadim’s character, insisting that his son was not a drug user. “My son was incredibly honest and a great person,” he said. “I will not allow anyone to tarnish his reputation.”
A close friend of Vadim, Vlad Pigin, reflected on his vibrant personality and the impact he had on those around him. Describing Vadim as a beloved member of both the Seattle and New York Burning Man communities, Vlad shared, “He built a family everywhere he went.” This was Vadim’s first visit to Burning Man, having decided to attend at the last minute.
Vlad recounted how Vadim contributed to the festival by assisting in the installation of an art piece titled “Heart with Rays.” Some of Vadim’s last photographs were taken near this installation, capturing his joy during the festival.
In light of the tragedy, Vadim’s friends have organized a GoFundMe campaign to cover transportation and funeral costs, aiming to honor him by returning his remains to his hometown. As of now, over $24,000 has been raised toward a target of $30,000.
Vlad further described Vadim as someone who radiated warmth and kindness, stating, “His excitement was contagious.” He highlighted how Vadim immersed himself in the festival experience, helping his camp and creating art that inspired joy among fellow attendees. “He was social, creative, respectful, and endlessly generous with his time and energy,” Vlad added, outlining the lasting impression Vadim left on everyone he met.
As investigations continue and the community mourns, Igor Kruglov’s call for justice resonates deeply, reflecting the profound loss of a man known for his spirit and compassion.
