Dolly Parton Assures Fans: “I Ain’t Dead Yet”

Dolly Parton addressed concerns regarding her health in a video shared on social media on October 8, 2025. The country music icon reassured her fans, stating, “I want you to know that I’m not dying. I’m not ready to die yet.” Her update comes after a wave of anxiety among her followers following a post from her sister, Freida Parton, who requested prayers for Dolly, mentioning that she had not been feeling well.
Freida Parton’s heartfelt message on Facebook prompted many fans to voice their worries. “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida wrote. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been [led] to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
In her video, Dolly expressed gratitude for the support but emphasized her commitment to continue working. “I know lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here,” she said, aiming to alleviate any fears regarding her health.
Addressing Health and Rumors
The “Jolene” singer acknowledged that she has faced some health challenges recently, admitting that she “let a lot of things go” following the death of her husband. This period of grief prompted her to slow down and focus on her well-being. “Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things,” she mentioned, adding, “I want you to know that I’m not dying… I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t think God is through with me, and I ain’t done working.”
Parton also discussed how artificial intelligence has fueled some of the unfounded rumors about her condition. She referenced a digitally altered image that circulated, featuring her and fellow singer Reba McEntire, which depicted them in a morbid light. “Did you see that AI picture of Reba and me? Ooh, lordy. I mean, they had Reba at my deathbed and we both looked like we needed to be buried,” she remarked.
By sharing her health status directly with fans, Dolly Parton aimed to quash the swirling rumors and provide a clear message: she is alive, engaged, and determined to continue her work in the entertainment industry.
Dolly concluded her update with a spirited affirmation of her vitality, stating emphatically, “I ain’t dead yet!”
This declaration not only reflects her resilience but also serves as a reminder of the ongoing affection and concern from her fans worldwide. As a beloved figure in the music industry, Parton’s health and well-being remain a topic of importance to many.
