Disney Announces New Animated Film ‘Hexed’ Set for 2026 Release

Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially announced its upcoming animated feature titled “Hexed,” set to premiere in November 2026. The announcement was made by the studio’s chief creative officer, Jared Bush, during the Destination D23 event held in Orlando, Florida, on September 9, 2023.

The film will be directed by Josie Trinidad, known for her work on “Zootopia+,” alongside Jason Hand, who is currently associated with “Moana 2.” Producers for “Hexed” include Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones. The film’s logline describes a story centered around “an awkward teenage boy and his Type-A mom,” who discover that the boy’s unusual traits may actually be linked to hidden magical powers. This revelation promises to turn both their lives and a secret world of magic upside down.

In addition to “Hexed,” presentations at Destination D23 included a preview of an upcoming Pixar project titled “Hoppers,” slated for a March 2026 release. This original comedy follows a nature-loving college student named Mabel, who faces conflict with her town’s mayor over plans to construct a highway through a cherished glade. The film will be directed by Daniel Chong, best known for “We Bare Bears: The Movie,” and produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle. Notable voice talent includes Piper Curda and Bobby Moynihan.
