D-Von Dudley Alleges Jim Ross Made Racist Remarks in WWE

D-Von Dudley, a renowned tag-team wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer, has publicly accused legendary announcer Jim Ross of making racist remarks during his time in the organization. In a recent interview on the Duke Loves Rasslin podcast, Dudley revealed that a “certain higher up” once expressed dislike for him based on the “colour of [his] skin.” Initially, Dudley refrained from naming the individual, but he later confirmed that the comments were made by Ross between 1999 and 2000.
Dudley conveyed that he has carried the weight of these comments for many years and described feeling “very hurt” and “bothered” by Ross’s remarks, which he claims occurred on two separate occasions. He noted that he had witnesses to these incidents, including fellow wrestlers Bubba Ray Dudley and Spike Dudley, as well as Paul Heyman, the original owner of ECW.
Despite the emotional toll, Dudley has chosen to adopt a forgiving stance. “I’m not angry at the man today,” he stated during the podcast, reflecting on his decision to move past the incident. Although he has not had a direct conversation with Ross regarding these remarks, Dudley speculated that Ross might claim he does not remember the incidents.
Dudley expressed well wishes for Ross as he faces ongoing health challenges. The former tag-team champion acknowledged the impact of Ross’s comments on his life but emphasized his desire to let go of the resentment.
After Dudley’s revelations, POST Wrestling reached out to Jim Ross for his perspective on the allegations. As of now, there has been no response from Ross, leaving uncertainty about whether he will address the matter through his own social media channels or podcast.
This situation highlights the complexity of personal relationships within the wrestling industry and underscores the importance of addressing issues of race and discrimination, even decades after they occur. Dudley’s experience sheds light on the long-lasting effects of such comments and the paths individuals may take towards forgiveness and healing.
