White Rhino Coffee Acquires Emporium Pies, Expanding Culinary Reach
White Rhino Coffee has officially acquired Emporium Pies, a beloved Dallas-based pie shop chain, marking a significant shift in the local culinary landscape. Founded in 2012, Emporium Pies has delighted customers with its handcrafted pies from multiple locations in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This acquisition aligns with White Rhino Coffee’s mission to enhance community engagement through quality food and beverage offerings.
Shared Values and Future Plans
The owners of Emporium Pies, sisters Landon Perdue, Jen Abohosh, and Addie Roberts, expressed their enthusiasm for the transition in a recent statement. They noted that the acquisition reflects a shared commitment to hospitality and creating memorable experiences for customers. “Part of our shared mission is hospitality and giving people a reason to celebrate,” said Roberts. “There’s something about dessert that brings people joy in a way nothing else can, and we’re thrilled to see that legacy carried forward.”
Emporium Pies began as a small operation in a 1930s bungalow in the Bishop Arts District and has since expanded to four locations, including McKinney, opened in 2013, Deep Ellum, which launched in 2016, and Fort Worth, established in 2021. This change marks the second time the pie shop has changed ownership, with its original founders selling the company in 2022.
Commitment to Quality and Expansion
Sara Escamilla, CEO of White Rhino Coffee, praised Emporium Pies for its exceptional legacy. “Emporium Pies has built an extraordinary legacy. Their products are consistently excellent, impeccably crafted, and beloved,” she said. “To be able to support and grow a concept of this caliber is an honor.” Under White Rhino’s stewardship, the bakers and Roberts will remain on staff to ensure that the cherished recipes remain unchanged.
Currently, both businesses will operate as usual, but plans are in place for expanding Emporium Pies’ footprint across the Dallas–Fort Worth area. White Rhino Coffee is exploring new collaborations and menu integrations, including exciting signature pie-and-coffee pairings. “For now, it simply means coffee and pie—two of life’s best comforts—can be enjoyed across both brands,” Escamilla remarked.
Founded in 2007, White Rhino Coffee currently operates 12 locations, with its most recent café opening in a conference room at Cypress Waters, set to launch in 2025. This strategic acquisition positions both brands for growth, enhancing their presence in the vibrant Dallas food scene.
The acquisition of Emporium Pies not only strengthens White Rhino Coffee’s commitment to community-driven endeavors but also opens new avenues for culinary exploration and customer engagement in the region.
