Reconstruction of Route 422 Underway in Lower Pottsgrove

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced ongoing reconstruction efforts along U.S. Route 422 in Lower Pottsgrove Township. Motorists should prepare for significant travel restrictions as work progresses on this vital corridor.

Lane closures will be implemented on westbound U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Hanover Street interchanges on Monday, November 24, and Tuesday, November 25, from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Eastbound lanes will also be affected during the same days, with closures scheduled from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM between the Hanover Street and Sanatoga interchanges.

In addition to these restrictions, Sanatoga Road remains closed and detoured between Linfield Road and High Street until Monday, December 1. This closure is necessary for the demolition of the westbound side of the bridge over U.S. 422. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, including High Street, Evergreen Road, and Linfield Road, to avoid delays.

Travelers are encouraged to plan for extra time when navigating near or through the construction zones, as significant backups and delays are expected. All scheduled activities are dependent on weather conditions.

This construction work is part of PennDOT’s extensive $83.6 million project aimed at reconstructing and enhancing approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway, along with replacing bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township. The initiative underscores the commitment to improving roadway safety and infrastructure in the region.
