Liberty County Hosts Celebrity Basketball Game for Youth Initiative

A spirited celebrity basketball game took place in Hinesville, Georgia, over the weekend, bringing together local leaders and community members to support a worthy cause. The event, which was the second annual game organized by Liberty County, aimed to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club.
The match featured a lively competition between a team of local youth and a team comprised of elected officials and community celebrities. In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, the young players emerged victorious, defeating their seasoned opponents with a score of 167 to 146.
Mitchell Boston, a councilman from Walthourville, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “The ultimate winner is the youth organization. The money’s going towards the Boys & Girls Club and Liberty County. The club is growing, and participation is increasing.” His comments highlighted the ongoing need for financial support as the organization prepares for its afterschool programs following the conclusion of its summer activities.
The event not only provided entertainment but also fostered community spirit. Local businesses and residents rallied around the cause, contributing to the overall success of the fundraiser. As the Boys & Girls Club continues to expand its reach and services, events like this play a crucial role in ensuring that young people in the area have access to valuable programs and activities.
Participants and attendees shared in the excitement of the game, with plenty of lighthearted banter and camaraderie evident throughout the event. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as both teams showcased their talents on the court, underscoring the strong ties between local leaders and the community they serve.
As Liberty County moves forward, the funds raised from this basketball game will help support the ongoing initiatives of the Boys & Girls Club. This commitment to youth development reflects the broader community’s dedication to providing a nurturing environment for its younger residents.
