Sturgeon Electric Honored for Excellence in Resolution Copper Projects

On October 6, 2025, Sturgeon Electric received recognition for its outstanding contributions to the Resolution Copper project in Superior, Arizona. As the project continues to progress, Sturgeon Electric has established itself as a reliable partner, delivering intricate electrical installations with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
Commitment to Safety and Quality
Sturgeon Electric, based in Miami, Arizona, has been actively involved in the Resolution Copper project for over 15 years. This collaboration has seen the electrical contractor support numerous large-scale initiatives, addressing the mine’s advanced electrical requirements since 2007. The company has successfully completed multiple projects aimed at modernizing and upgrading the electrical systems at the site, enhancing safety measures and energy efficiency.
“We’re proud to support Resolution Copper in building the future of mining right here in the Copper Triangle of Arizona,” stated Jim Redzinak, Mining Operations Manager at Sturgeon Electric. “Every project we take on reflects our commitment to safety, quality, and the communities we serve. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our entire team and the strong partnerships we’ve built with the Arizona Building Trades, National Building Trades, and particularly IBEW Local Union 518.”
Among the key projects recently completed by Sturgeon Electric is the installation of high-efficiency variable frequency drive (VFD) motors in the historic Magma Mine 8 Shaft. This significant upgrade is essential for maintaining water levels in the underground workings of the mine. Additionally, the company replaced the load center for the No. 9 shaft breaker, ensuring safe and reliable power delivery critical for hoisting operations. This work supports the safe transportation of miners in and out of the shaft, bolstering operational efficiency.
Building a Sustainable Future
Sturgeon Electric’s projects also include the installation of a new transformer to modernize the mine rescue center and the replacement of two additional load centers to enhance ventilation in the underground mine. These initiatives reflect Sturgeon Electric’s ongoing support for Resolution Copper’s vision of a safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operation.
Throughout its partnership with Resolution Copper, Sturgeon Electric has maintained an exemplary safety record, underscoring its commitment to the well-being of employees and the surrounding communities. “Sturgeon Electric has consistently delivered high-quality work on some of our most critical infrastructure,” said Rob Tobin, Operations and Maintenance Manager at Resolution Copper. “Their professionalism, attention to detail, and safety-first approach make them a valued partner in our mission to develop a copper mine that will bring lasting benefits to the region.”
Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc. is recognized as a premier electrical contractor specializing in industrial, commercial, and utility-scale projects. With over a century of experience, the company is dedicated to safety, innovation, and customer satisfaction, providing expertise that powers progress across the western United States.
