Among the key projects recently completed by Sturgeon Electric is the installation of high-efficiency variable frequency drive (VFD) motors in the historic Magma Mine 8 Shaft. This significant upgrade is essential for maintaining water levels in the underground workings of the mine. Additionally, the company replaced the load center for the No. 9 shaft breaker, ensuring safe and reliable power delivery critical for hoisting operations. This work supports the safe transportation of miners in and out of the shaft, bolstering operational efficiency.

Sturgeon Electric’s projects also include the installation of a new transformer to modernize the mine rescue center and the replacement of two additional load centers to enhance ventilation in the underground mine.
