Vista Rise Collective Expands Support for Survivors of Abuse

Vista Rise Collective, formerly known as Live Violence Free, has announced a significant rebranding effort aimed at better supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and child abuse in the South Lake Tahoe and Alpine County region. This change, which was revealed in June 2023, reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to safety and healing while adapting to the evolving needs of the community.
Emphasizing Healing Over Trauma
The new name, Vista Rise Collective, is more than just a fresh identity; it signifies a shift in focus from the trauma of abuse to the paths toward healing. The organization aims to create an inclusive environment that welcomes all survivors, regardless of the type of abuse they have faced. By removing the word “violence” from their name, the organization hopes to eliminate stigma and judgment, encouraging individuals who may have felt their experiences were not severe enough to seek help.
“We’ve heard directly from survivors that they felt their situation wasn’t ‘violent enough’ to seek help from a place called Live Violence Free,” said a representative of the organization. “Our new name is an invitation to all survivors to reach out without fear of judgment.”
Core Mission and Services Remain Strong
Despite the rebranding, the core services of Vista Rise Collective remain unchanged. The organization continues to provide crisis support, emergency housing, and therapy for both children and adults, all firmly rooted in understanding and trauma-informed care. The organization emphasizes that these services are designed to be accessible, ensuring that healing does not feel insurmountable.
Each element of the new name was chosen purposefully. “Vista” signifies an accessible path forward, akin to a scenic overlook that offers clarity and perspective. “Rise” represents hope and resilience, reflecting the journey of survivors reclaiming their lives. “Collective” emphasizes that the issues related to intimate partner violence and child abuse are community challenges that require collective action.
Moreover, the rebranding serves a practical purpose by enhancing confidentiality. Referring to the organization as Vista Rise allows for greater discretion in public conversations, which is crucial for individuals seeking support.
Vista Rise Collective remains a trusted resource, committed to expanding its reach and building partnerships within the community. The organization encourages anyone in need of assistance or interested in learning more about their outreach initiatives to contact them directly. Their crisis line remains active at 530-544-4444, while general inquiries can be directed to [email protected]. For partnership opportunities, interested parties can reach out via [email protected].
As the community continues to evolve, Vista Rise Collective invites everyone to join in fostering a supportive environment for all survivors, reinforcing the notion that healing is a shared journey.
