SkyShowtime Launches Teaser for Spanish Thriller Series ‘The Tribute’

SkyShowtime has announced the upcoming release of its original Spanish thriller series, titled The Tribute (El Homenaje), set to premiere in March 2026. The announcement was made by chief content officer Kai Finke during a keynote session at the Iberseries & Platino Industria event on Wednesday. This production is part of a strategic effort by SkyShowtime, a joint venture between Paramount and Comcast, which operates in over 20 markets across Europe.
The series, which has already completed filming, is described as a fresh narrative filled with “mysteries and secrets.” It is created, written, and directed by Sergio Cánovas, who also serves as an executive producer alongside actress Elsa Pataky. The Tribute consists of eight episodes and is produced by Secuoya Studios in collaboration with Stellarmedia. Notably, Prime Video holds second-window rights for the show.
Returning to the screen are several actors from the original series Shades (Matices), including Eusebio Poncela, Miriam Giovanelli, and Juana Acosta. They will portray new characters in this latest thriller. The cast also features emerging talents such as Manu Ríos, Álvaro Rico, and Georgina Amorós, enhancing the series’ appeal.
The storyline centers around Adolfo Novak (played by Poncela), the patriarch of a powerful family who invites relatives and close friends to celebrate his 80th birthday. Beneath the surface of the festivities lie decades of secrets, betrayals, and a thirst for revenge. As the night unfolds, hidden truths will emerge, promising unexpected twists that challenge initial perceptions.
Finke expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “We’re excited to continue our partnership with Secuoya Studios and collaborate again with the brilliant team and talent behind Shades. With its magnificent cast and gripping storyline, The Tribute is a truly incredible project, and we look forward to premiering this suspenseful and intriguing show next year on SkyShowtime.”
Cánovas shared his vision for the series, emphasizing the element of surprise and declaring it a “thriller where betrayal and revenge will erupt in a turbulent family story.” Brendan Fitzgerald, CEO of Secuoya Studios, reiterated the commitment to producing impactful storytelling that resonates with audiences, describing the series as “a family thriller full of secrets and revelations.”
The Tribute expands SkyShowtime’s growing collection of Spanish originals, which also includes the true-crime documentary series A Recipe for Murder and the psychological thriller Shades. A teaser for The Tribute was also revealed, showcasing emotional moments from the series, including family toasts and hints of underlying tensions and conflicts.
As anticipation builds for this new addition to the streaming platform, viewers can look forward to a thrilling exploration of family dynamics, secrets, and the quest for redemption when The Tribute debuts in March 2026.
