Community Remembers Megan L. Aldinger, 1967-2023: A Life of Resilience

Megan L. Aldinger, a beloved member of her community, passed away recently at the age of 56, leaving behind a legacy of strength and determination. Born on June 26, 1967, in Cheektowaga, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Linda and Nelson James Aldinger. Her family remembers her not only for her ambition and work ethic but also for her unwavering spirit in the face of adversity.
Megan grew up surrounded by nature, forming a close bond with her horse, Star, which fueled her love for animals. She pursued her education at Alfred University, where she earned a degree in Secretarial Science. Her career as a legal secretary showcased her exceptional skills in shorthand and typing, as well as her ability to connect with clients and colleagues alike. Throughout her professional journey, she often juggled multiple jobs, demonstrating her commitment to hard work.
Unfortunately, Megan’s aspirations were challenged by a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, a condition that significantly impacted her life. Despite the physical and emotional struggles associated with the disease, she fought valiantly for her independence over the years. Her family and friends admired her resilience and positive outlook, traits that remained evident until her passing.
A Life Full of Love and Connection
Megan maintained a deep affection for her family and friends, always eager to stay updated on their lives. She is survived by her sister, Janiece Marie Aldinger, and brother, Thomas Nelson Aldinger, both of whom provided support throughout her challenges. She leaves behind nephews Tyler and Tristan Aldinger, niece Emma Clavin, and great-niece Amora Aldinger, all of whom fondly remember her caring nature and quick wit.
Her connection with animals was profound, particularly with her cat, Jacob. Megan’s warmth and genuine nature allowed her to forge strong friendships, especially with her caregivers and fellow residents at Havenwood Apartments and Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility. Those who knew her cherished the fun conversations and the laughter she brought into their lives.
Megan’s legacy is one of hope, rooted in her faith in Jesus, which provided her with comfort and strength. She often spoke of looking forward to a paradise where physical disabilities would no longer constrain her spirit. Her family and friends will deeply miss her direct manner, engaging conversations, and the joy she brought into their lives.
As the community reflects on her life, Megan L. Aldinger will be remembered not just for her struggles but for her remarkable resilience, her love for family, and the joy she found in everyday moments.
