Legoland California Unveils Galacticoaster, First New Ride in 20 Years
Legoland California Resort has announced the launch of its new indoor roller coaster, named Galacticoaster, which is set to open in early 2026. This marks the park’s first new roller coaster in over two decades, with construction currently underway inside a sizable 30,000-square-foot building.
The announcement was made on Monday, revealing that segments of the ride’s track are already being installed. According to Flora Liu, senior project manager at Merlin Magic Making, the parent company of Legoland resorts, “Galacticoaster is going to launch Legoland California into a whole new galaxy of fun.” She added that this ride represents part of Merlin’s largest investment in Legoland history, totaling $90 million for both Legoland California and Legoland Florida.
The ride will span 1,500 feet and promises to provide guests with a unique experience as they board their “customized spacecraft.” Riders will navigate through various cosmic scenes, creating a personalized journey through the Lego galaxy. The construction of this attraction has involved a workforce of approximately 500 crew members dedicated to its design and development.
Galacticoaster draws inspiration from beloved Lego sets that families have enjoyed for years while incorporating modern technology to enhance the ride’s immersive quality. The anticipation surrounding the attraction continues to build, especially as it prepares to debut during a period of significant expansion for the park.
As part of the park’s ongoing commitment to innovation and guest experience, Galacticoaster aims to redefine indoor roller coasters with its state-of-the-art features and engaging storyline. The upcoming attraction is expected to create a buzz among both local visitors and international tourists, further solidifying Legoland California’s reputation as a premier family destination.
The new ride will conclude the park’s Red, White and BOOM! celebration on July 4, featuring a fireworks display over the park’s miniature models, culminating at 20:45. With excitement building for Galacticoaster, Legoland California is poised to attract even more visitors in the years to come.
