Delta Dental of Oklahoma Launches Free Oral Health Programs for Kids

Delta Dental of Oklahoma, along with its Foundation, has introduced free interactive oral health programs aimed at educating children about the importance of maintaining good dental hygiene. This initiative comes in response to the significant oral health challenges faced by children in Oklahoma, where access to dental care can be limited. Research indicates that students suffering from poor dental health are more likely to miss school and perform poorly academically.
According to Terrisa Singleton, director of the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation, “Championing positive oral hygiene is key to setting up kids for a lifetime of good dental health.” The Foundation’s efforts include two engaging educational programs designed for classrooms across the state.
Interactive Programs to Educate Children
The first program, Captain Supertooth, targets pre-K through third grade students. This engaging initiative features a superhero mascot who teaches children about the benefits of good dental hygiene through in-person performances. Educators interested in scheduling a visit from Oklahoma’s defender of oral health can do so by visiting CaptainSupertooth.com.
The second program, known as MouthScience, provides teachers with kits that illustrate the levels of acid and sugar in common beverages. This hands-on approach encourages students to make healthier choices for their dental health. Each kit is tailored for third through sixth grade teachers and includes supplies necessary to conduct science experiments aligned with Oklahoma Academic Standards. Teachers can request a MouthScience kit by visiting DDOKFoundation.org/MouthScience.
Both programs are offered at no cost to Oklahoma classrooms, aiming to enhance the oral health awareness of students. Participants in either program will also receive a complimentary toothbrush to support their ongoing oral care.
Commitment to Oral Health Awareness
The Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation is dedicated to improving oral wellness within the community. The Foundation’s initiatives exemplify a commitment to fostering better dental health practices among children, addressing the prevalent issue of oral health neglect in the region.

Through these efforts, Delta Dental aims to empower the next generation to take charge of their dental health, ultimately leading to a healthier future for Oklahomans.
