Indiana County Launches ‘Toddler Time’ Program for Local Families

The Indiana County Board of Commissioners has approved a partnership with ARIN Intermediate Unit 28 to launch a new pilot program named **Toddler Time**. This initiative will take place at various locations, including **Blairsville** and **Saltsburg**, with the possibility of expanding to additional sites in the future.
According to a memorandum dated **September 2** from **Lisa Spencer**, the director of the county’s Department of Human Services, the Toddler Time program aims to support income-eligible families by providing enriching activities for their young children. Each session will feature **30 minutes of free play** alongside educational components such as songs, discussions about the weather, story reading, a craft activity, and a nutritious snack.
The program is designed to foster early childhood development and social interaction in a welcoming environment. It reflects a growing commitment among local authorities to support families and enhance the quality of life within the community.
Spencer emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader effort to engage families in educational activities that promote healthy development during the critical early years of a child’s life. By offering diverse activities, Toddler Time seeks to create a supportive network for parents and caregivers, while also laying a foundation for lifelong learning.
As the program rolls out, feedback from participants will be instrumental in assessing its impact and determining potential expansions. The Indiana County Board of Commissioners is optimistic that Toddler Time will serve as a valuable resource for families in the area.
