Ruth Eunice Rose, aged 84, passed away on September 15, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming. Known for her unwavering dedication to family and community, Ruth leaves behind a legacy that has touched many lives. Born on April 24, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, she was the daughter of Eldon and Marie Muir.

Ruth’s life was characterized by her commitment to helping others. She graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work from Augustana College in 1966 and earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa in 1968. In her professional career, she worked as a social worker at the Human Services Center for 15 years before playing a pivotal role in establishing the Master’s of Social Work program at the University of Mary in Bismarck, where she taught for five years.

Community Involvement and Family

Ruth married Douglas Rose in June 1968, and they built their life together in Jamestown, North Dakota. Their family grew to include two daughters, Deb and Becky, whom Ruth inspired to pursue their ambitions while always providing unwavering support. Ruth was particularly active in the Presbyterian Church, where she initiated a Sunday School class for children with disabilities, exemplifying her deep commitment to inclusivity and guidance.

After moving to Fargo, Ruth continued her impactful work at Village Family Services for a decade, where she established the Attachment Disorders Clinic. She retired in 2008 but remained active in the Olivet Lutheran Church community, continuing to offer her prayers and support to those in need.

Remembering Ruth’s Legacy

Ruth is survived by her husband, Doug, and their daughters, Deb Lane of Casper and Becky Rose of Santa Rosa, California. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her spirit of love and encouragement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Ellen Langley and Jane Burt, and her brother-in-law, Donald Rose. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions of Casper.

A memorial service celebrating Ruth’s life will be held on September 27, 2025, at 10:00 at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper.
