New Date Set for World Fireworks Championships After Storm Cancellation
A new date has been established for the postponed World Fireworks Championships in Blackpool, following a thunderstorm that disrupted the scheduled display. Team India was set to perform their spectacular show on September 13, 2025, but adverse weather conditions forced the cancellation. The event will now take place on September 26, 2025, with the Ukrainian team set to showcase their display on the following night.
Championship Format Changes
This year’s championships introduce an exciting new format that will lead to the crowning of the “Champion of Champions.” Over the next three years, nine former winners will return to compete in head-to-head matches. Each year, one heat winner will be determined, and the three annual winners will compete in a grand finale to decide the ultimate champion in 2028.
Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming displays, stating that it “promises to be a spectacular series of displays.” The event aims to attract tourists and locals alike, showcasing the artistry and creativity of various international fireworks teams.
Updated Event Schedule
The full schedule for the rescheduled championships is as follows:
