Mingus Reedus Arrested Again for Assault in New York City

Mingus Reedus, the 25-year-old son of actors Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen, has been arrested again on assault charges in New York City. The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that Reedus was taken into custody at approximately 08:40 local time on August 23, 2023. He faces charges of criminal obstruction of breathing and assault following an incident involving a 33-year-old woman who reportedly suffered injuries to her neck and legs.

Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but it marks the second time Mingus has faced legal troubles for similar allegations. In September 2021, he was arrested for assaulting an unidentified woman in the city. The alleged victim accused him of striking her in the face. “They were drunk and swarmed me,” Mingus explained. “It was instinct. I was reacting to them swarming me and was afraid for the safety of my group.” He recounted how he and his friends were targeted while walking in the city, with one group of women reportedly following them for several blocks and throwing food.

Following the 2021 incident, Mingus pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, resulting in a sentence that included five counseling sessions. His attorney, Isabelle Kirshner, has previously claimed that the charges against him were unfounded, asserting that he was the real victim in that situation.
