Trump’s Hand Raises Health Concerns Amid Ongoing Speculation

President Donald Trump was seen with a noticeable layer of makeup on his right hand as he left the White House on March 15, 2024. This observation has fueled ongoing concerns regarding his health, particularly following his recent diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). The 79-year-old president has reportedly used makeup to hide bruising on his hand multiple times since returning to office, but the application appeared more pronounced during his recent public appearance.
In an effort to address these concerns, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, “President Trump is a man of the people and meets more Americans, shaking hands daily, than any other president in history.” This statement aligns with previous White House explanations that link the bruising to Trump’s frequent handshakes. On the evening prior, he was seen in Washington, D.C., engaging with law enforcement officials and participating in community activities as part of his crime reduction initiatives.
While the White House has emphasized transparency, it has not provided detailed information regarding Trump’s health issues. Questions remain about his swollen ankles and the bruising on his hand. Following the announcement of his CVI diagnosis, there has been no further information from the White House about Trump’s treatment or any lifestyle changes he may be undertaking, such as the potential use of compression socks.
Ongoing Health Speculation
The combination of visible bruising and unanswered questions surrounding Trump’s health has sparked increased scrutiny. Reports of potential cognitive decline have also emerged, fueled by observations of his public engagements and physical demeanor. Analysts and commentators have raised concerns regarding Trump’s memory and cognitive function, citing instances of absent-mindedness.
Earlier this month, Trump appeared to forget the name of the Atlantic Ocean during an interview on Fox and Friends, referring to it simply as “a big, beautiful ocean.” This follows a prior misstatement where he claimed he was headed to Russia for a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, when in fact the meeting was scheduled in Alaska. Such geographical errors have raised alarms about his memory and overall cognitive abilities.
Former assistant professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University Medical School, John Gartner, has described Trump’s behavior as indicative of classic dementia signs. He noted, “What we see are the classic signs of dementia, which is gross deterioration from someone’s baseline and function.” Gartner further remarked that Trump, who once expressed himself articulately, now struggles to complete thoughts, marking a significant decline in cognitive performance.
Gartner is a co-founder of Duty to Warn, an organization of mental health professionals who expressed concerns about Trump’s psychological state during his presidency. He predicted that Trump’s condition would worsen, stating, “I predicted before the election that he would probably fall off the cliff before the end of his term.”
As questions about the president’s health continue to circulate, there remains a significant gap in official communication from the White House. Whether further disclosures will be made regarding Trump’s medical evaluations or treatment plans is currently uncertain. The public’s desire for clarity persists, particularly as the nation approaches critical political and social milestones.
