Two Men Slashed in Early Morning Attack in Queens

Two men were victims of a violent attack in Queens early on December 7, 2023, when they were slashed by knife-wielding assailants. The incident occurred shortly after 04:08 a.m. at the intersection of Barnett Avenue and 48th Street in Sunnyside, according to police reports.

The victims, aged 27 and 25, were reportedly attempting to retrieve a two-wheeled device when they were confronted by the attackers. Officers from the 108th Precinct responded promptly to a 911 call reporting the incident. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the older man with a serious slash wound to his face, while the younger man sustained a slash to his neck.

Emergency Medical Services transported the 27-year-old victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he received treatment and was reported to be in stable condition. The 25-year-old man declined medical assistance at the scene, according to police sources.

A knife was recovered by officers at the location of the attack, but as of now, no arrests have been made. Authorities are actively searching for two male suspects believed to be responsible for the slashing. No descriptions of the suspects have been released to the public.

The slashing incident contributes to a troubling trend in the area. Reports indicate that felony assaults in the 108th Precinct have surged by 11.6% this year, with a total of 278 incidents reported through November 30, compared to 249 incidents during the same period last year. Overall crime in the precinct has increased by 2.08%.
